Last outing of the year

Monday 27th saw myself  Aaron and Claire bundle into the golf and head off to a small day ticket venue near Romsey.  After stopping for breakfast at rownhams we eventually arrived for 7.30am. It was quite overcast but the forecast was good for the day and we had hopefully covered all potential weather options,we stopped at the shed to sign in and read the extensive rules and we paid our £10 each for me and Aaron and set off towards the water.
We opted for the top lake and drove to the very bottom and set up by the picnic table.I got Aaron's rods set up and he placed one in a channel and one by a small island.I opted for the other side of the island with one rod and then the second was a tricky cast tight to an island that was side on down the lake, This took me 3 attempts using my new rods, but on the 3rd time I was bang on and very confident. Myself and Aaron are using the new dynamite baits complex t boilies tipped with a yellow fake corn,I've got a lot of confidence in this bait, and have had good results so far, catching with it from day one.

We set the rest of our  kit up on the table and put the oval brolley up purely as a windbreak and it wasn't long before my lh delkim screamed into life after a twitchy take.this fish fought very hard under the rod tip and when it rolled over the cord I couldn't believe my luck. It was a cracking mirror of 21lb 4.the biggest fish I've had for 2 years so I was chuffed to bits to say the least.I dedicated  this fish to my late Step brother  Andy Plumb as promised.r.i.p mate.

ANDYS FISH.

I recast the rod and as I did Aaron's rh rod melted off and after a brief battle it threw the hook,to be fair his clutches were a bit too tight , a shame really as it looked a good one.The  rod was then recast into the same area and as soon as the bobbin was set it was away and before we knew it Aaron was lent into his new pb.... an absolute belter and a worthy component on his 1.5tc rods.top angling son!!

AARONS NEW PB OF12LB 5
Aaron was chuffed to bits with his capture,a lovely chocolate brown scaley mirror, which unfortunately had a bit of tail and dorsal damage, but otherwise a real minter!

It wasn't long before the rods were active once more and i landed a nice single of around 7lb ,A lovely young fish and Claire wanted a pic so i let her hold it for a cheeky photo opportunity.

SMILES ALL ROUND.
After returning our small friend I recast my rod to the island spot once more using another fresh compleat t boilie and yellow corn and it went in perfect first chuck, wasn't expecting that ,it was one of them,"thats a fish" type cast! surely enough after a few minutes the rod screamed off and this fish plodded around not showing itself at all and just lumbered around not in any rush to come in,once under the rod tip it stayed deep all the time occasionally taking line from the spool which was set quite tight to be honest,i let the fish take some line in a bid to wear it out and when it finally surfaced laying on its side i couldn't believe it was even bigger than the first mirror. this one going just over 23lb

Please excuse the pic,it was proper beating  me up on the bank, and it was close to being returned before i managed this half hearted photo!!  fish can be so camera shy! lol

The fish was returned and we celebrated our luck so far with a nice brew and a bacon roll and then refocused on the job in hand..

It was Aaron's turn next to have another fish and although not massive it was still a cracker even though it proper slapped him about ,!!

HAPPY BOY.
ELLO  MATE!
We recast Aaron's rod once more and we went through a bit of a quiet spell, but to be honest five fish including a pb wasnt to be sniffed at ,We had another brew but the rods stayed quiet for some time.so we were sat there taking in the red kite aerial show when out of the blue my island rod once again screamed into life, proper meltdown take,a very strong fish powered off down the lake trying to empty the spool and the rod was at full curve trying to slow it and turn it around ,after a battle of wills the rod straightened a little and then the fish started to power towards me wtf? lol, after some precision netting where the fish pretty much swam straight into my net another beauty was to grace my old chub unhooking mat once more...

NOT A BAD DAYS WORK!

After this we decided to call it a day as Aaron was tired and we wanted to avoid the inevitable traffic that rush hour would bring,so we returned our last prize and vowed to come back in a week or two, possibly for the night.
